A civic minded citizen has used RTI to get the local Municipality its dues from Government Departments.

A civic minded citizen has used RTI to get the local Municipality its dues from Government Departments. He did not gain anything personally, but spent money from his pocket in the course of this advocacy. The municipality would not have recovered its dues easily but for his sustained efforts. I believe in such cases applicants should be returned their costs such as applications fees and additional fees by the government as a goodwill gesture. After all, this action was undertaken in public interest and the government benefited from it.
